Our Central Production Units are within 2 kilometres of the international airports, namely O R Tambo International Airport, Cape Town International Airport and King Shaka International Airport.
Our production facilities operate in adherence to FSSC 22 000 standards in Johannesburg, Cape Town and Durban. FSSC 22 000 is a standard that takes the approach of ISO 9001 as a management system, incorporates the hygiene measures of Prerequisite programs, and adds HACCP principles and criteria.
By being accredited, this means Air Chefs has the best of the management system approach added to the well-established PRP and HACCP programs. To provide food services in a global food market, an internationally consistent standard is a benefit to everyone.
In addition to applying world class standards, we utilise our modern fleet of hi-loader trucks and refrigerated vehicles. With these we are able to swiftly transport meals to any client under ideal conditions, giving assurance to our clients of our world class food safety management programme. It also means that food is maintained at proper temperatures and that perishable items are hygienic and safe to be enjoyed by passengers.
Thanks to our team members’ diverse skillsets and the high-quality equipment we constantly invest in, our facilities now serve as Central Production Units (CPUs), manufacturing delicious in-flight meals, airport lounge meals, ready-made meals and staff restaurant meals for our corporate clients.

It all starts with rigorous engagement with our suppliers, to ensure that the needs of our clients are met. Our team of qualified Quality Assurance specialists carefully inspect all suppliers’ facilities, to ensure that the products we use adhere to our strict standards. Once our Quality Assurance team is satisfied of the Health and Safety compliance of the suppliers, our Research and Development team engages with suppliers to produce meals which are customised to out specific needs.
